Introduction: Baked Figs Stuffed With Walnuts
From the time the purple contest came up I had been hunting for fresh Figs to share my great recipe.Only in summer we could buy them freely at a lower price.Ah! finally I managed to buy some fresh figs for a very high price as it is out of season. My recipe is for 12 fruits, but I did it for only for six fruits because the fruits were too expensive.
Step 1: Ingredients
12 ripe fresh Figs
55g /2 oz walnut halves
3 tble sp good-mild flavoured honey OR soft brown sugar
3 tble sp madeira OR sweet sherry
115gr /40z fresh cream cheese
Step 2: Cut Figs
This is a quick and easy recipe ,so switch on the oven before you start on it.
Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/gas6
Cut a tiny slice off the bottom of each fig so that it will sit stably.Make two cuts down through their tops, about 2.5 cm/1 in deep,at right angles to one another. Ease the figs open with a spoon, squeezing their middles at the same time if necessary.
Step 3: Mixture
In a food processor grind most of the wall nut halves coarsely -reserving the better looking pieces for decoration. Take care not to over process.Mix honey or sugar,Madeira or sherry and ground nuts into the fresh cheese.
Step 4: Filling
Spoon the mixture into the opened -out figs and arrange them in a baking dish.I filled up a little more of the mixture as I love the mixture very much.bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling. Arrange the reserved walnut halves over the top of the figs to serve.I did not arrange on top.
Step 5: Enjoy!
Toasted almonds or hazelnuts work equally well in this dish,as does Mascarpone cheese.
Thank you for taking time to view my recipe.
