I'm a student Industrial Product Design. We've got the design challenge to make a new concept with corrugated fiberboard and start from an existing box.

I've used an box from a lamp. With that in mind I've tried to make a new lampshade to decorate old sockets or maybe refresh it with a new design.

In this tutorial I'll show you how to upcycle your corrugated fiberboard to make an easy lampshade!

Step 1: The Things You Need

Corrugated fiberboardbox: the size depends on how big you want your lampshade to be.
Cutter
Ruler
Pencil
Wood glue
Clothespins

Step 2: Step 1: Cutting the Shape(s)

If you want to make a small lampshape you can print out the picture and resize it to your wishes. Draw it on the fiberboard and cut. But I wanted to make a big one so I had to cut them all separately. After you've cut out your shape(s), you have bend the sides.

Step 3: Step 2: Glueing the Parts

After you've bent al the sides comes the tricky part. You have to glue on the small stroke and add some wood glue. To keep it in place I've used some clothespins. This helps a lot to keep them together! Let it dry for a half an hour.

Step 4: Step 3: Finishing Off

Now admire your work because you're almost finished! Erase some pencil marks and all you need to do know is pinch a hole in the center of the top side with a size of 1cm.

Step 5: Step 4: Hanging Up Your Lampshade

In the last step you have to turn off the lights. Unplug your socket and put the wire through the hole in the top. Re-attach your socket and turn on the lights. Make sure you connect the right colors! If you've followed the steps correctly it should look like the lampshade I've made!
