Introduction: Chain and Intertwined Thread Bracelet

I have been experimenting with costume jewelry in the last few months and at one point I had a vague memory when I was a child, years ago there was an institution in the place where I was born, where they taught different crafts, including jewelry and used chains intertwined with ribbons or threads to make garments. I don't know what this technique is called, I tried to search the internet for the name and I didn't find a specific name. I hope you find it useful and easy to do.

Supplies

  • Chains
  • Thick needle
  • Fine needle (for nylon thread)
  • Nylon thread
  • Lobster clasp
  • Pliers
  • Tape measure
  • Jump ring

Step 1: Measuring the Wrist

With the tape measure, surround in this case the wrist and measure the circumference of the wrist, taking into account the allowance you want the bracelet.

Step 2: Separating Chains

With the measure of the previous step, we will take the chain and with the pliers we will open the links to separate the chain until we obtain 6 chains of 16.5 cm long.

Finally, to join the chains so that they do not move before we intertwine the thread. We join with rings the ends of the set of chains that we have just separated.

Step 3: Preparing Mouse Tail Thread

With the mouse tail thread we take about 100 cm or more of mouse tail thread to fold in half the thread (for bracelets it is 100 cm or more). Now, with a lighter burn the ends of our thread and still hot, flatten with a combination pliers to make it easier to put this thread through the thick needle.

Step 4: Interlacing Mouse Tail Thread

With the use of a thick needle, plus the thread, plus the set of chains we made in the previous steps, we proceed to weave the threads together.

This is done in zig zag, and when we reach the end, we zigzag again but in the opposite direction.

Step 5: Securing Interlaced Yarn Ends

Once the body of the bracelet is finished, we will secure the threads and chain by its ends, using transparent nylon thread; for this, we will pass a nylon thread through a needle, and insert this needle with nylon through one end of the bracelet, and pass it several times, until we return to the initial point of the end. We make a knot, and cut the excess. We do the same with the other end.

Note: We can burn with the tinder the tips of the nylon so that we do not prick the nylon later when we use the bracelet.

Step 6: Add Lobster Clasp

Finally, with the jump ring, we open it with pliers and put it on one of the metal rings at the end of the bracelet.

This same jump ring, still open, we put it on the safety clasp.

Close the jump ring.

The bracelet is now ready.
