Introduction: Christmas Candy Calender

About: Fabriken is swedens first makerspace and now we're at Malmö Makerspace

Make this simple Christmas Calender and fill it with goodies and make the wait for Christmas a bit more enduring.

Step 1: You Will Need

24 Paper tubes from toilette rolls or other. We used the inner tubes from wrapping paper

Paper in different colours

Glue sticks

Glue gun

Metal wire

Scissors

Wire cutters

Pen

Date stamps (or just write the numbers by hand)

Candy or small toys that fits the tubes

Step 2: Prepare the Tubes

Start by cutting the tubes in a suitable length

Place it on a piece of paper and draw a line around the tube. (image 1:1 and 1:2)

Cut it out with the scissors (image 1:3)

Make cuts around the edge up to the line (image 1:4)

Apply glue (image 1:5)

Fold the edge and glue it to the roll (image 1:6)

Repeat until you have 24 (Swedish style) or 25 (American Style)

Step 3: Glue the Rolls Together

Place the tubes in the formation you like, we choose a rectangle but you can put them any way you like. (image 2:1)

Put some glue on the first tube and glue it together with the second one (image 2:2)

Make lines of tubes that you then glue together (image 2:3 and 2:4)

Glue all the pieces together (image 2:5)

Step 4: Making a Loop for Hanging

Now take some wire and make a loop that you thread over some of the tubes on the back. (image 3:1-3:4)

Step 5: Numbers!

Stamp or write the numbers on each tube. One tube for each day in December until Christmas

Step 6: Fill It Up!

Now it's time to fill the Calender.

Flip it over and put candies in the tubes. When done put some glue on each tube and place a paper on the back. Gently press it down so that it sticks in the glue.

Step 7: Make a Roof

Nearly done!

We decided to make a roof of some card stock for the calender. We did it by folding some paper and then gluing it on with the glue gun.

And now you are done for the countdown.

Just pop the paper in front each day for a treat!
