Introduction: Corn Bread With Cheese

Hey,

In this instructable I'll show corn bread with cheese recipe. This is serbian dish, and it's called "Proja sa sirom".

It's easy to make... I hope you like it. :D

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup corn grits
  • 1 cup self-raising flour (1 cup flour, 1 1/2 ts salt, 1 baking powder)
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 shot glass mineral water
  • 250g not melting cheese

Tools:

  • Large bowl
  • Mixer
  • Baking sheet
  • Brush (optional)
  • Spatula (optional)

Note*: Turn on the oven at 250 degrees Celsius before you start.

Step 2: Mix It

In a large bowl break 4 eggs and mix them together.

Then slowly add yogurt, sour cream, corn grits, flour, oil, and mineral water (one at a time) and mix them until we get a line mixture.

Finally, add the cheese and stir with spatula to stay lumpy (you can do it with mixer but it will not be lumpy and would not look properly).

Step 3: Oiling and Flouring Baking Sheet

Take a baking sheet and pour a little oil in the middle of it, and brush it all over the baking sheet (you can use your hands to do that).

Note*: Brush edges of the baking sheet too.

When we oiled the baking sheet, along one edge add the flour (as shown) and then take

baking sheet with one hand at an angle (not too big), and then with the other hand tap it from below.

This way the flour "glue" to the baking sheet with oil.

Discard excess flour.

Step 4: Pure It and Bake It

Take a bowl with a mixture of corn bread and pour into previously floured baking sheet (use spatula to pure everything from bowl).

Insert a baking sheet in the oven, which is previously heated to 250 degrees Celsius and immediately reduce to 200 degrees Celsius.

Bake for about 20 minutes.

Step 5: Checking

When we think it is finished (when 20 minutes passes) we take it out to check it.

Take a toothpick and stab in the corn bread.

If the toothpick is "clean" when we take it out, corn bread is ready, if not
we return it back in the oven for few more minutes.

Note*: It is good to do the test, with a toothpick, at a few places case that somewhere is cooked
and somewhere you need a little more cooking.

Step 6: THE END

Allow to cool slightly then cut and serve
It is best served with a yogurt, and I also put a leaf of fresh mint as decoration.

I hope you like it and enjoy making it.

Bon appetite...

Please comment if have some compliments or criticism.

THANKS for watching. :D
