Introduction: Create Gcode for Cnc Foam Cutter Macchine Costycnc

About: I like electronics and informatics!

Create gcode for foam cutter machine with inkscape 1.1 or further and costycnc plugin https://github.com/costycnc/costycnc-inkscape-1.0

Supplies

Download and install plugin in inkscape https://github.com/costycnc/costycnc-inkscape-1.0

Restart inkscape

Step 1: Verify If Plugin Costycnc Is Installed Corectly

After restart inkscape open extensions menu and will see menu costycnc ... gcode

Step 2: Prepare the Word

1.Now draw a text and convert to path

2.Click points and click the word ... if word is transformed to path wil see points same in foto 2

3.Select all text and click "Combine" ... now all text need to be points same as foto 3

4.With text selected click "Union" ... you won't see much change same as foto 4

5.When click "Outline" you can see your text same as foto 5

Now the image is ready to be transformed to gcode with costycnc plugin

Step 3: Check If Is One Path

Before going to next step need to control if exist only a path. If exists more than 1 path or exist translate coordinate , the plugin not working!!!

Open "XML Editor" same as foto 1... where need to exist only a path without any "Traslate" line

In foto 2 exists more path and probably extension not function!!!

Today i working at this extension and not finished yet ... so probably if you donwload extension today , probably is improved!!!

Step 4: Create Gcode

Now you can use extension ... so slect the path and click Extensions > Costycnc > Gcode

Will appear a window where inform you how much nodes have your image ... before processing the image

If your image have more than 2000 -3000 nodes will need more time to be processed and inkscape can blocking

So ... you can use "Flatness" to increase or decrease number of nodes ... but it will change the quality of the gcode

Attention!!! If windows with nodes not appear and inkscape seem to wait... look behind inkscape window because probably inkscape is over this window! foto 2

Step 5: Verify Gcode

Now gcode is created and will find it in your computer in "My documents" in "Costycnc" folder!!!

The "costycnc" folder will be create automatically by inkscape.

Now you can test gcode with any program you want like Costycnc,Lasergrbl,UGS,Mach3, ecc

I will test gcode with "costycnc" gcodesender

So... Go to https://www.costycnc.it/cm8 and click button "Load" to load gcode same as foto 1 and go to My documents > costycnc folder

Will find here all gcodes saved by date same as foto 2
