Make yourself a killer pumpkin ring even if you don't have a costume, no one can say you're not in the Halloween spirit!
All you need is:
Orange and Green polymer clay (You will only need a small amount of each)
Ring back
Fine point carving tool (I used a small nail, which worked great)
High grade adhesive ( I used E-600)
Brown and Black Acrylic Paint

Step 1: Soften and Shape Your Clay
Work the orange clay in your hands, rolling until you have a well-rounded ball in the size you would like your pumpkin. Then flatten one side onto a hard surface.
Take pinch of green to represent the stem, and work into a roughly rectangular shape.
Mount the green on the top end of the orange ball. With either your finger or the carving tool, blend some of the green into the orange, securing the stem to the pumpkin.

Step 2: Carving Your Pumpkin!
Now you get to carve your pumpkin without all the mess of pumpkin guts!
To add texture to your pumpkin ring, take your fine point tool and make curved lines from the center of the top and bottom, giving it a 3D shape. Take a look at a basket ball to give you an idea of how to do this. Then add small, quick scratches on the stem to give it a rough texture.

Step 3: Finishing Touches
Bake your pumpkin at 250 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on it, it will be ready when it's firm, but not rock hard. If you over cook it, it will crumble later.
If you want a classic pumpkin, you can leave it as is.
If you want to go creepier, paint brown and black on the bottom and top, adding a bit in the center as well.

Step 4: Make It a Ring
Scratch the surface of the ring back with either sand paper or your carving tool, to provide better grip for your pumpkin.
Squeeze a pea size dollop of E-6000 on the ring back. (make sure you do this in a well ventilated area so you don't go brain dead, it's powerful stuff!)
Line up the pumpkin the way you want it to sit on your finger, stick it on, let it dry, and let the spooky times roll!
