Introduction: Customize Your Boots With Studs!

About: A person who enjoys making things!

Ever feel a little edgy?... That's when its time for studs! This tutorial is simple and easy!

Hope you enjoy! : )

Step 1: Check Out the Full Video Tutorial!

Step 2: Gather Your Supplies

Supplies Needed:
Tools:

  • Awl
  • Ruler

Materials:

  • Pair of Boots ( I am using Bearpaw Emma Tall Cold Weather Boots in Hickory, you can find the same kind here)
  • Studs ( I used Gold 10mm Spike Studs, you can find the same kind here. I bought a pack of 200 and ended up using 172! Cutting it close!)
  • Pen

Step 3: Add the Studs

Supplies Needed:
Tools:

  • Awl
  • Ruler

Materials:

  • Your Boots
  • Studs
  • Pen

I wanted my studs to be evenly spaced so I used a ruler and a pen to mark out their positions before hand. The pen marks will disappear once you poke a hole to add your studs.

Once the positions are marked, use an awl (or something sharp) to poke holes through each marking.

To add the studs, insert the back piece through the inside of the boot and screw on the top of the stud.

Repeat for all studs, and your done!

Step 4: Wear and Enjoy!

Now you can wear your custom boots out and about and enjoy! : )

Oh one more thing I just remembered, these WILL loosen over time. You'll find that the screws get loose. If you intend this to be permanent you may want to put some locktite or some glue on the screw before you install it. Otherwise you will find yourself missing spikes here and there. Another alternative might be to grip the spike with a rubber kitchen gripper while you use a tiny screwdriver and really wrench it tight.

That's awesome! When I was in high school I had a backpack that I added spikes to the straps of in a similar style, they went down the straps in single rows. It looked great when worn. I'm sure nowadays someone has probably made that illegal, but back then a lot of people commented on how much they liked it.

Also, spiked bracelets or armbands are illegal in Massachusetts but I've never seen anything about shoes. (yet)
