Introduction: DIY Ruffle Dress

I made a midi loose fit dress with raglan balloon sleeve with a twist lace insertion and ruffles. At the neck has elastic inserted , so you can wear it also on your shoulders. This dress can be made in a variety of fabrics such as polyester or cotton and you can accessorize it with a belt.

Supplies

  • 3 to 5 meters of fabric
  • elastic 2 cm wide
  • 2 meters of lace
  • thread
  • sewing machine
  • scissor
  • some pins
  • iron
  • serger machine- optional

Step 1:

Take the bodice front ruffle and fold it in half. Sew at 1 cm from the edge with the longest stitch length of your machine so you can make the ruffle by pulling one thread.

Step 2:

Take the bodice front ruffle and sew it on the bodice front ruffle. You have to hold underneath the 1 cm edge and sew

Step 3:

Take the bodice front panel and bodice back panel pin them together (right sides facing in) and sew along the edge

Step 4:

Take the sleeve ruffles and fold it in half. Sew at 1 cm from the edge with the

longest stitch length of your machine so you can make the ruffle by pulling one thread.

Step 5:

Take the top part sleeve panel and the top part sleeve ruffle and sew it together

Step 6:

Take the Sleeve bottom part and the sleeve bottom ruffle and sew it together

Step 7:

Take the middle sleeve panel (lace panel) and place it on top of the edges and sew along the edge

Step 8:

Sew the sleeve close- (right sides facing in) and repeat the process for the other sleeve

Step 9:

Sew the sleeves to the bodice

Step 10:

To make the elastic channel along the top of the entire bodice piece and sleeves, measure 4 cm from the top neckline and fold inside of the dress, with 1 cm folded inside. of the channel so you can have a clean edge.

Leave an opening to thread in a piece of elastic that's slightly shorter than the length around your shoulders.

Close the opening

Step 11:

Finish the edge of the sleeve with an overcasting machine and make the channel for the

elastic of 2 cm leaving an opening to insert the elastic, which can be slightly looser than

your wrist measurement.

Close the opening and repeat the process for the other sleeve.

Step 12:

  • Take the Front panel ruffle and the back panel ruffle and sew them together (right sides facing in)
  • Sew at 1 cm from the edge with the longest stitch length of your machine so you can gather the ruffle by pulling one thread.
  • Sew the ruffle to the bodice - right sides facing in
  • Make the hem
