Introduction: Dinner Fixer_ Easy Ham and Cheese Pie

About: I am an Italian living in the UK. I like to keep myself busy doing all sort of DIY, painting, crocheting and cooking.

This easy and rapid recipe can be handy one evening when you do not fancy a complicate preparation and want still eat something tasty.

You will need:

- 1 ready rolled puff pastry sheet or 1 puff pastry block to roll.

- 200 gr of ham

- 200 gr of cheese (I have used here some cheddar slices)

- a backing tray

Ready?

Step 1: Cover Your Tray With a Sheet of Puff Pastry

Roll your block of puff pastry until reaching 3 mm of thickness.

Lay it down your tray covered previously with some parchment paper.

If you are using a prepared rolled sheet, easier job for you.

Cut the surplus along the borders.

Step 2: Cover With the Ham and Cheese of Your Choice

Cover the tray with an abundant layer (s) of ham and then cheese.

You can really use whatever cheese you prefer. I personally prefer something that will melt without releasing water (it can drive your pastry soggy).

Finish adding some few slices of ham on top of the cheese to avoid it from burning during the cooking.

Step 3: Cover Your Pie

Using the puff pastry removed before, create a mesh by alternating horizontal and vertical puff pastry stripes.

Bend the corner to close your pie.

You can be creative here, cutting shapes out of the puff pastry or simply laying down another layer of it.

In this last case, please remember to make holes all around with the tip of a fork. It will help air/ vapour to be release during cooking.

Step 4: Bake Your Pie in the Oven

Bake your Pie in the oven at 200 degrees C for about 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Cut your slice and enjoy!
