Introduction: Duct Tape Spinner Fidget Toy
Hi,
Spinner toys are nothing new and have been covered by other great instructablers such as Kenyer and akn1, but most of the how to's use hot glue which is nice and easy but tend to break easily or a 3d printer which not everyone has access to. I wanted to make a hand spinner that anyone could make, So in this instructable I'm going to show you how to make one using duct tape. its a lot more robust than hot glue and with there being a multitude of different colours of duct tape available you can make them nice and bright.
Its a cheap and easy instructable with most of the parts easy to come by
Lets get started...
Step 1: What You'll Need
Materials
3 marbles
1 clean skate or skateboard bearing. I got this one from a local skate shop it was old but still span.
Duct tape
Tools
Craft knife
Cutting mat
Ruler
Step 2: Cutting the Tape
Lightly place a length of duct tape roughly 3 inches long on your cutting mat, you dont want it to stick to it too much
Using your bearing to measure the width of the strip use your craft knife and ruller to cut a thin strip roughly the same width as the bearing.
Repeat this to make at least 6 strips.
Step 3: Attaching the Marbles
This part can be a bit tricky.
Take a strip of duct tape and place the marble in the center so there are to lengths at eather side
Attache these two lengths to the bearing.
Take another strip of ductape and wrap it around the bottom of the marble.
Repeat this for the other two marbles.
You want to position the marbles to form a triangle around the bearing.
You may want to and an extra strip of duct tape around the whole fidget toy
Step 4: Finished
and you're done!
I hope you enjoyed this instructable and as always thoughts/comments/criticisms and even pictures of your own Spinner Fidget Toys are welcome in the comments below :)

These look better than a fidget cube!

Thank you :) but i still wouldn't say no to a fidget cube, they do look pretty cool

Yeah, fidget cubes look better, but this looks way easier to make than a cube. I would make this but I don't have bearings for it and don't want to spend much on some.

you can get them really cheap new online (ebay) or do what i did just ask in your local skate store if they have any old ones that they were going to throw out :)

I finally got a bearing! I will make this, and when I am done, I will show you how it looks. Thanks in advance! :)

what kind of ammo casing are you talking about? I know my weapons so it will be good for me.

As bbanks5 said, She's not a gun person and I am afraid neither am I. you may have to just experiment with a few and see what you can make :)

I fell in love with the oven bake clay version and the batman version. THEN I saw this one and OH MY! I may have to make one to match every outfit! There are so MANY decorative duct tapes on the market!
Also: BB's are the basis for bearings...so anything that can encase them and keep them in line will be a suitable adaptation in place of buying the "ready made" set. Just saying for the sake of others... :D A sewing machine bobbin may even work!

what can I use if I don't have a bearing?
Reply 5 years ago
I would imagine anything that has an outer spinning piece but a stationary inner piece

like what? give me some things that i can use?

jason hamilton ~ Here's an idea: Why not use ammo casings? I'm not a gun person so I can't say sizes. One that fit's inside another. Make sure there's enough spacing between the two to add BB's! Then use pliers to fold out the rim of the inner casing to the outer casing enclosing the BB's. It should turn just fine. Many shell casings can be cut with pipe cutters or even tin snips. You can even use a flanging tool to spread out the inner casing to size, thereby encasing the BB's. Use rocks for weights. Those are about as cheap as you can get! Use three rocks about the same size. Should work just fine!

what is a good substitution for the marbles if I don't have some?

A couple of other members have posted some comments about things they used as an alternative to marbles
