Introduction: From Jeans You Wear to a Denim Bag You Carry

Old jeans lying around?

Turn them into something new!

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

You will need:

~ old jeans

~ scissors

~ sewing needle

~ thread

~ old shirt or scrap fabric (optional)

Step 2: Cut the Jeans

Cut the pants legs off your jeans.

Step 3: Next....

Turn the denim piece inside out.

Step 4: Sew

After cutting your jeans, you need to sew the cut edge of the denim together.

Step 5: Admire Your Progress

Flip the bag inside out again to see the exterior.

Step 6: Start Working on the Bag Strap/Handle

Take one of the jean legs you cut off. Cut out a rectangle that is slightly less or more than the width of your hand and is as long as you want the strap/handle to be.

Step 7: Creating Your Bag Strap/Handle

Fold the rectangle you cut out in a way that the cut length edges meet in the middle with one slightly overlapping the other. Now you can sew the edges together. If you don't want to sew it, you can twist the strip of denim to make a rounder strap/handle.

Step 8: Sewing the Bag Strap/Handle Together

After folding the denim strip, you can sew its edges together.

Step 9: Finishing the Bag

The strap/handle needs to be attached to the bag! You can sew the ends of the strip to the sides of the bag. When you're finished connecting the strap/handle to the bag, you are done making your bag! Congratulations!You can add lining and pockets to your bag with extra denim and scrap fabric. Make it unique.

Step 10: Personalizing Your Denim Bag

To add interior lining to your bag, turn your bag inside out. Next, you need to get an old shirt or scrap fabric. Make sure it is big enough to fit around the interior of your bag. 

Step 11: Making Interior Lining for Your Bag

When you have a piece of fabric big enough to cover the interior of your bag, you can cut out the shape of the bag. After you cut out your fabric shape, sew the edges of the fabric to the edge of the bag. If you flip the bag inside out again, you can start putting things inside it and carry it around.
