Introduction: Helicopter Camera Mount

In this instructable I will show you how to make a camera mount for an Aerial camera or video shot. This is designed for point and shoot cameras so you may have to modify it for GoPros

Step 1: Step 1: Gather You Suplies

You will need:

erasers,

tape,

an RC helicopter ( should be fairly big to fit a camera)

a small piece of thin wood

a drill

zip ties

hot glue and hot glue gun.

Step 2: Step 2: Plan and Draw

plan out your piece of board and measure out the space between your helicopter skis where the zip ties will need to fit around. draw the size of the lens of the camera as you will need to cut a space for that as well.

Step 3: Step 3: Start Drilling!

Start drilling by drilling the holes that you have marked out for the skis, make sure that you use a bit that a zip tie will fit through. next drill the middle or lens gap. I wasn't very well prepared and had to do lots of tiny holes but a plain circle bit would work also as it would get the job done quicker and cleaner than what I did.

Step 4: Step 4: Zip Tie Time!

Zip tie the board to the helicopter skis and make sure that they are snug, next cut off as much excess as you can. this would also be a good time to make sure that you camera fits the helicopter.

Step 5: Step 5: Fitting the Camera

Next you want to fit the camera by taping it to the board directly over the board.

Make sure that the tape does not get in the way of the lens and that the lenses path is free of obstruction for when it extends.

tape it both ways and if you need just rip the tape to keep it from getting in the way.

Step 6: Step 6: Landing Pads

Naturally when the lens extends it pops out the bottom and would get squashed on landing. That is why I decided to add some erasers to help cushion the fall and landing and protect the lens.

First tape 4 full size erasers and cut them each in half. Then tape them together. Next hot glue the erasers to the bottom of the helicopter wherever you can.

Step 7: Step 7: FINISHED

Now you can charge it up and go out for a filming session!

You may need to swap out the wood for Styrofoam or something lighter to fly it but it should take off with a full charge and wood on it.
