Introduction: Hibiscus Immunity Booster Sandwich

About: I am an Engineering student (department of mechatronics) of SRM University (India)
  • As we all know, at present we don't have any vaccine for COVID-19, so the only effective solution is to boost our immunity so that even if we catch the virus our immune system can destroy those viruses.
  • India, from where the origin of Yoga, Meditation and Ayurvedic practices have emerged from, is in focus to teach the world, the practices to boost their immunity until the vaccine is found.
  • In this tutorial, I will be using different types of spices, herbs and flowers which help to boost immunity (according to ancient Ayurveda) and put it in a sandwich which will be a blend of modern and ancient culture.
  • I will be using:
    1. Hibiscus Flower
    2. Giloy Creeper Leaves
    3. Indian Basil or Tulsi

Step 1: Ingredients

  • Brown Bread
  • Mayonnaise
  • Potato
  • Coriander Powder
  • Cumin Seeds
  • Red Chilli Powder
  • Black Pepper Powder
  • Lemon
  • Fresh Chilli
  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Salt

Step 2: Hibiscus

  • This flowering plant is very common, but many people don't know how much beneficial the flowers are!
  • These come in many varieties, I had 3 types of Hibiscus plant in my garden, which I have shown in the pictures. I used all of those in this tutorial.

Step 3: Giloy

  • Giloy is an Ayurvedic herb that has been used and advocated in Indian medicine for ages
  • In Sanskrit, Giloy is known as ‘Amrita', which literally translates to ‘the root of immortality', because of its abundant medicinal properties
  • I have used leaves of this plant to substitute lettuce

Benefits of Giloy:

  1. Boosts Immunity
  2. Treats Chronic Fever
  3. Fights Respiratory Problems

Step 4: Spices and Tulsi (Indian Basil)

  • India is well known for its rich collection of spices
  • So the following spices I have used:
    1. Coriander Powder
    2. Black Pepper Powder
    3. Cumin Seeds
    4. Red Chilli Powder

Along with Spices I used Tulsi which is also well known to boost immunity.

Step 5: Peel and Boil Potatoes

  • Potatoes are peeled using a peeler and cut into small pieces to cook faster.
  • Put it in a pressure cooker to boil.
  • It is cooked for 10 mins

Step 6: Mashing Potatoes

  • Potatoes should be stained out using a stainer.
  • In a boul use masher tool to mash the potatoes.

Step 7: Cook Veggies

  • Put oil in the pan and heat it for 2 mins.
  • Put Cumin seeds
  • After 1 min put all other veggies- onions, ginger, garlic, fresh chillis

Step 8: Put Other Spices and Potato Mash Then Stir

  • All the Spices and potato mash are put in the pan and stir for 10 mins.
  • Finally, Lemon is put in it.

Step 9: Prepare Bread With Giloy

  • The boundary of bread is cut
  • Mayonnaise is put on the bread
  • Giloy leaf is put on the bread

Step 10: Stuffing

  • Stuffing is put on the leaf
  • Hibiscus flower petals are plucked and put on the stuffing artistically.
  • Further Tulsi leaves are also placed.

Step 11: Grilling

  • Bread is closed and put in the griller for 10mins to cook with butter on the top

Step 12: Conclusion

  • Finally Hibiscus - Giloy Immunity Booster Sandwich is ready to be served
  • The plate is decorated by using Giloy leaf and Hibiscus flower.
