Introduction: How to Make Chocolate Collar/Chocolate Band

About: Hi! I am Klinong, that is how my loving family calls me, except my brother, he calls me Krinyol, as I have silly curly hair :) I love Instructables for forever now, especially for the contests ha-ha!, but I …

A simple way to decorate your cake. All you need is chocolate and a design. You can print template from the net or just follow your imagination.

I include the recipe for the chocolate cake as well and it is good for cupcakes too.

Step 1: Ingredients and Method

For Chocolate Band/Collar

Parchment paper (if you can find clear acetate plastic, that would be best, but if not, parchment works too!)

Chocolate of your choice (color and flavor, depending what you want to make/paint) - in this case I use white chocolate wafer and milk chocolate wafer. The measurement is about 100 g of each bag, this is depending on how big your cake is, as for this time, am using 9 inch heart-shaped.

Measure the outside of your cake and cut parchment paper into a strip (you will wrap this strip around the cake) - if you are thinking to slice the layer in half to have a filling in between, measure the cake once both layers stacked.

Melt the white wafer and draw/paint design that you want. I only did a little scroll and some dots (just simple ones to show). Let it harden.

Once white is harden (at room temperature)

Melt chocolate wafer, let it cool slightly then pour throughout the strip, covering the previous design.

Lift it carefully and wrap the cake. Now you can place the cake in the fridge or let it set at room temperature (altho fridge is quicker obviously)

Once chocolate band is firm/hardened, peel it slowly.

Voila, your cake is decorated :)

Step 2: Cake

You can do this chocolate band for any kinds of cake you like, but of course chocolate and chocolate? Super matching, am I right? ;)

2 c AP flour

2 c sugar

2/3 c cocoa powder

2 tsp BSoda

1 tsp BP

1/2 tsp salt

2 eggs

1 c milk

2/3 c oil

1 tsp vanilla essence

1 cup coffee

Mix dry ingredients, set aside

Add in the rest of the ingredients, beat for 2 minutes

Stir in coffee and pour mixture into prepared pan (greased and floured)

Baked on preheated 350 F for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool on rack, cover with your fav. buttercream and decorate as you like!
