Step 2: Phototutorial / STEP 01

Before we start making our first Single Crochet, we must have already a row of Foundation Chains on a Slip Knot.

If you don't remember how to make the stitch or the knot, you might want to give a quick look to the Instructable of the Slip Knot and the Chain Stitch.

For this tutorial, we’re gonna work only 5 foundation chains and once that we have them, we’re gonna work one extra chain, which is gonna be used to give the necessary height to our first stitch of the row.

Remember, when we begin a new row using a Single Crochet, we must work one extra chain at the beginning.

To make this extra chain, we repeat the same pattern of the Chain Stich, i mean, yarn over (this means that we have to put the yarn over the hook), and now we pull the piece of yarn through the loop that was already on the hook.

Step 3: Phototutorial / STEP 02

Now that we have the extra chain, to begin the Single Crochet, we’re going to introduce the hook in the second chain from hook, remember, we do not count the loop or chain that is on the hook as the first one because is our working loop, so we pass to the next one and we count one and two

And it’s in the second chain where we’re gonna introduce the hook, now yarn over, pull the hook through the chain, (by now you should have two loops on your hook) to finish, yarn over again and pull the hook through the two loops.

And now you have your first Single Crochet finished =D

Step 4: Phototutorial / STEP 03

Remember, to make a Single Crochet, introduce the hook in the chain or stitch where you wanna work it, yarn over, pull the hook through the chain or stitch, and once that we have two loops on our hook, yarn over again and pull the hook through the two loops.

Step 5: Phototutorial / STEP 03 (II)

This is how our foundation chains looks once that we have a single crochet on every one of them.
