Introduction: How to Fold a Jumping Frog

Here is how to make a fun jumping frog out of simple paper! We have a video tutorial on how to create a jumping frog on YouTube. After you create your jumping frog, share it on social media with #HomeMakeKit so we can see how it turned out!

Supplies

Origami paper (or any square piece of paper)

Optional: makers, colored pencils, etc.

Step 1:

Take a square piece of paper and fold in half.

Step 2:

Fold one of the corners to touch the other side.

Step 3:

Unfold and repeat on the opposite corner.

Step 4:

Fold the sides of the rectangular part to the center.

Step 5:

Fold the bottom rectangle to the point.

Step 6:

Take the corners that are touching and pull them out.

Step 7:

Fold the sides of the rectangular part to the center.

Step 8:

Fold the bottom rectangle to the point.

Step 9:

Take the corners that are touching and pull them out.

Step 10:

Fold down the legs.

Step 11:

Fold over each legs

Step 12:

Fold the frog in half.

Step 13:

Step 14:

Flip it over and there’s your jumping frog!

Step 15: Ideas of What to Do...

  • Design your frog! Draw eyes on! Tape a tongue on! Turn is into a bunny by taping ears on! The possibilities are endless!
  • Have a frog jumping contest! Tape two sheets of paper together so you have a super long sheet. Then draw a start line and mark every inch or so. Put your frog at the starting line and see how far it goes! See if you can figure out ways to make your frog go farther.
  • Get a cup (or bowl) and try to jump your frog into it!
  • Build a frog army! Make a bunch of frogs to take over your house!
