While it may not be as acceptable in society as other sports true LARP can be just as if not more physically, and mentally demanding than most sports. There are a lot of people who would enjoy it but because of statements and misconceptions like this are afraid to. I personally go out every weekend rain, shine, snow or ice wear 30 to 80 pounds of armor and fight. I have seen people go from 280lbs to less than 200 just by LARPing because of the physical demand of the sport.. There is also a large number of the armed service that participate. Many of the groups that use weapons that have less protection require you to protect yourself more before you are even allowed to fight to prevent as many injuries as possible. So please call us nerds, just know that a lot of these nerds are the ones fighting for their country at the same time. You also have to think we are everywhere, Russia's pro league MMA has even made real steel fighting, which is a form of LARPing, a large part of what draws their crowds in.

i agree with you, i was in wood shop and there was this kid who made a larping shield, and it was so annoying, he was always challenging us to duels and stuff.

That's pretty cool. The only thing is that you really need to get yourself an actual injected weapon (Calimacil, Epic Armoury, etc). I just personally enjoy the grip and realism of it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here' a link: http://www.us.calimacil.com/ Otherwise, your costume is standard, but good quality. Here in Quebec, we're really hot on this kind of stuff.

nice flatblade. Let me guess, you used camp foam? What organization you play with? Amtgard, belegarth or daghor? You seem more of an amtgard fellow to me, mostly cause of the pool noodle weapons.
