It’s everything from scratch and you don’t require any fancy kitchen equipment, so as anybody can make these deliciousness at home.

We hope you enjoy making and specially eating them, as much as we loved doing it!

Yields: 16 big bars (or 18 regular)

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients and Materials

For this recipe you will need:

• 125 grams of salted butter
• 1 small egg
• 50 grams of caster sugar
• 125 grams of all-purpose flour
• 3 green apples
• ½ tablespoon of ground cinnamon
• 200 grams of condensed milk
• 1 ½ tablespoon of maple or corn syrup
• 130 grams of brown sugar
• 100 grams of nuts
• 300 grams of white chocolate

Also, you’ll need these materials/kitchen ware

• An oven
• A small heat proof bowl
• A sauce pan
• Afrying pan
• A stove
• A 6,5 x 10 inches baking pan
• Plastic film
• A knife and a fork
• A wooden spoon
• A spatula
• Refrigerator
• A chronometer (your mobile phone)
• A scale

Let's get started!

Step 2: Make the Crust Dough

To make the crust; in a small bowl, with your hands, combine 75 grams of cold butter with 125 grams of flour, forming crumbs.

Then, add 10 grams of sugar and the egg, forming a dough (if it is too runny, add a little more flour. If it doesn’t come together, add a little of cold water).

Wrap the dough with plastic film and place in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.

Now it's a great time to preheat your oven to 356 degrees (180°C).

Step 3: Cut the Apples

While you wait for the dough to rest, start making the apple filling.

Peel and cut the apples, using a sharp knife, into small cubes.

You also can use red apples.

Step 4: Bake the Dough

Remove the dough from the fridge, and spread it evenly over a previously greased baking pan.

Pinch the dough with a fork. Place in the oven and bake for around 20 minutes, or until light golden.

Step 5: Cook the Apples

While baking the crust, cook the apples.

Turn on the stove. Place the frying pan, with the apples, 20 grams of butter and 40 grams of sugar, over low heat.

If you are using red apples, since they are sweeter, you can add less or no sugar at all.

Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring constantly (preventing the apples to burn), until the apples becomes translucent.

Remove from the heat and add cinnamon to taste. Stir.

After the crust is baked, place the apple filling over the cooked crust, leaving a little space from the edge.

Step 6: Chop the Nuts!

While everything cools down, chop the nuts with a sharp knife. You can also use a food processor but you don't want them to be super fine chopped nuts, you want to feel the nuts when you eat them.

They will be mixed with the caramel.

Step 7: Make the Caramel

For the caramel layer, in a saucepan, over low heat; place 30 grams of butter with 130 grams of brown sugar. Stir with a wooden spoon, until the sugar starts to melt.

Add the condensed milk and the corn syrup, stirring constantly (which prevents burning the caramel) until all the sugar is dissolved and the mixture has thickened and reached a brown color.

If you are not sure when it’s ready, you can take out a little drop of the caramel and leave it over a cold surface. It will cool down rapidly and you can test its consistency and flavour.

Remove from the heat when it’s ready and stir in the chopped nuts.

Pour the nutty caramel over the apple filling, and spread evenly with a spatula.

Let it cool and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Step 8: Chocolate Cover!

In the meantime, cut 300 grams of white chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heat proof bowl.

Remove the baking pan from the refrigerator and with a sharp knife, cut 16 big bars (or 18 regular).

Melt the white chocolate over a bain marie. It’s not necessary to keep everything on the fire. For us, boiling water and place the bowl with chocolates over it worked! The heat from the boiled water is enough.

Place one bar in the melted chocolate and with the help of a fork coat it completely, remove the excess of chocolate and place it over a surface previously wrapped in the plastic paper (or a wire rack). Repeat with all the bars.

Wait until the chocolate hardens.

Step 9: ENJOY! ☺

This was a really fun and delicious experiment. We really like cooking and surely will try new inventions.

We hope you like them too and share them with your friends.
