Introduction: Playhouse Made of Cardboard, Made in CNC Laser Cutting Machine

This project is comprised of three separate modules, which can be rearranged by kids as they play, in order to form a playstation into which they can crawl, play and have fun! The files were created specifically to be cut in a CNC laser cutter. The material chosen is 6mm sturdy cardboard, because of its low cost and ease of use. Aditionally, kids can have fun painting and decorating their playhouses, both inside and out!

For this project, we created one of each of the tall modules, and two of the short tunnels.

Supplies

25 cardboard sheets, measuring at least 110cm x 90cm

hot glue gun and 15+ glue sticks

320 sandpaper

Step 1: Cut Out the Pieces

Cut all the pieces on the CNC laser cutter, using the attached files

Step 2: Fold the Tabs and Folds

Fold each of the tabs, as well as the pieces that have a fold. It might be easier if you first pull out the top layer of cardboard that is on the fold.

Step 3:

Position the pieces that will be glued. The tabs are meant to be glued on the inside part of the house. Begin with the walls of each module

Step 4:

Heat up the hot glue gun. Start glueing each piece of the tab, one at a time. Hold it down for a minute or so before moving on to the next.

Step 5:

It might help speed up the process if you put clips on the tabs, to hold them down after they're glued. If you don't have clips, just have patience and hold them down manually.

Step 6:

Keep glueing and holding down each of the tabs

Step 7:

Finish by glueing the floors and ceilings of the modules
