Introduction: PuzzleMat... Not a Puzzle, But Used With a Puzzle!

About: I love to make stuff, including food, crafts, and especially electronics.

I used to have this bulky puzzle map but now I can't find it.

It had this ballon thing in the middle and was wrapped with felt, you could put a puzzle in for safekeeping.

So I was like, hmm, why don't we have one with the middle made out of cardboard instead, but can hold puzzle pieces?

I set out to make a miniature prototype of one, since I lacked the proper materials...

Supplies

Felt(I used some kind of fabric but felt is best)

Cardboard

Vinyl(optional)

Hot glue and hot glue gun

A puzzle!

Step 1: Prepare the Tube

Get a piece of cardboard. Cut out a piece that when rolled up, will be sufficient for your length and diameter.

Cut out.

Step 2: Make the Lid and Base.

First, cut out a square or circle the size of the tube and hot glue on.

Yes, I used tape, but that's for the prototype, it's not the most durable.

Cut out another one like the first, cut out a strip of cardboard, hot glue onto the middle, then hot glue into the tube.

Make a small slot to tuck the other end in, and viola.

Step 3: Prepare the Fabric!

Cut out a large piece of fabric.

It should be as wide as your tube and significantly longer, at least 3-4 times it's width.

Hot glue an edge onto the tube.

Step 4: Add a Slot to the Fabric to Keep It Wrapped Up.

This is optional, you could tie a ribbon around it.

If you decide to go this route:

Cut two small strips of fabric. For the first, hot glue onto the middle of the fabric.

Then, see where it lands when rolled up, and glue the other piece where you could fold the tab up and secure it.

Step 5: Add the Puzzle!

Roll up, put the extras in the core.

PLEASE USE HOT GLUE AND FELT! THIS WASN'T VERY SUCCESSFUL SINCE SCOTCH GLUE+ ROUGH CANVAS ≠ DURABLE!
