I am a Vintage computer enthusiast which may be referred to as Dms1244 or Dms12444.
Basically we are going to end explorer on the target computer, in the final step I will also tell you how to shutdown another computer if both are on the same network.
Step 1: Open Task Manager
press Ctrl, Shift, and escape or use Ctrl, Alt, Delete command and bring up task manager
Step 2: Go to Processes Tab.
The processes tab is where all the executables that are running are listed, weather they are applications or not.
Step 3: Click on Explorer.exe
elplorer.exe is basically the desktop and taskbar.
Step 4: End Explorer
press end process in the lower right corner of the task manager. This will be your result
Step 5: Exit Task Manager
this is your final result. Also, the command to remotely shutdown another computer is you press start, then run, type "cmd", and finally type "shutdown name of computer \s \t1" where 1 is the amount of seconds until shutdown.

Some computers restart explorer.exe when it is terminated or crashes. My school computers do

I know one! This will make all the icons disappear off the desktop. XP: >Right click in an open space on the desktop > Go to the submenu "Arrange Icons By" and then uncheck "Show Desktop Icons" VISTA >Right click in an open space on the desktop >Go to "View" and then uncheck Show desktop Icons

Can you undo the task bar thing?

To 'undo' it, you would need to open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and open 'Run' by Clicking 'File' -> 'New Task (Run...)'. When the Run box comes up, just type in 'explorer.exe' and click OK. This will restart the explorer shell and bring up the taskbar & start menu again. Some of the icons in the task tray (the area next to the clock on the task bar) might not come back up; this is normal so don't worry - most will reappear if you logout / login. If not, a reboot (switch it off and on again) should work. Overall, good step by step guide using images but it could do with more detail.

if you want to undo it all you have to do is click file, run, then type in explorer.exe, it should fix it
