Introduction: Toilet Paper Roll Bunnies and Chicks

About: Hi! I am person who loves crafts, animals, and sports! I like sharing my ideas on crafts and inspiring people to create cool things! I would love to receive any suggestions!

This idea is a last minute Easter gift or craft for anyone you like. It is also a recycle-type project, and turns out very cute in the end! I hope this tutorial gives you a new idea for a gift or decoration that will help the environment in a little way. Happy Easter everyone!

Step 1: Materials

Here is what you will need . . .

  1. One or two finished toilet paper rolls.
  2. Pieces of patterned/scrap/colored paper, or white paper that you will later color.
  3. Scissors
  4. Pencil or markers.
  5. Glue or tape
  6. Straight edge (Ruler, book, etc)

Step 2: Step 1. Cut the Roll!

If you are making a rabbit, I suggest a roll of 5 inches in height. If you are making a chick, I suggest cutting the roll down to 3 inches in height. After cutting the roll to your desired height, trim the edges so they are straight. If scissors don't work for this step you can use an exacto knife, but please be careful as these are VERY sharp.

Step 3: Step 2. Measure Out Your Paper!

Take your piece of paper that you want the outside of your animal to be. I am using plain white paper for my chick.

Lay the roll on top of your paper, aligning it to the bottom corner of your paper, and mark how high the roll goes. Leave some excess paper at the top which you can always cut of.

Draw a straight line with your straight edge and cut away!

If you want to color your paper like me, do this now. I made yellow stripes for my chicks, and pink dots for my bunny.

Step 4: Step 3. Apply the Paper!

Now that you have the paper you need, tape or glue it onto your roll, making sure that the edges match each other. I put 1 piece of tape at the beginning, and one at the end. Don't worry if the paper overlaps. After you apply the paper you can trim away the excess paper if you have any.

Step 5: Step 4. Add It On!

Now for the finishing touches. For this part you can do whatever you want, but I decided to draw big cute eyes, and a nose and tape those on the face. I also cut out little wings and feet that are easy to tape on the roll. And now you are complete with your craft!
