Introduction: Training Your Chickens to Play Instruments

This is a fun activity to do with your chickens. It is very simple and soon your chickens will be playing an instrument. I am using a glockenspiel for this instructable, but drums, pianos, and xylophones work too. Enjoy! 😊


Supplies

for this project you will need:

  1. your chickens favorite treats
  2. Live chickens
  3. an instrument
  4. and maybe a few chicken helpers

Step 1: Starting to Train

Grab a chicken and show it the instrument. Take it and put its beak against the instrument so it makes a noise. Then give your chicken a treat.

Step 2: Continuing

Continue that process. After each peck let your chicken look at the instrument.

Step 3: Accomplished

Soon your chicken will get what you are trying to show them. They will start pecking the instrument so they will get a treat.

Step 4: Another Way

If this does not work I recommend drawing little dots or lines on the instrument so your chicken will peck at those. Give it a treat when it pecks them.
