Introduction: [Xmas Decor]3D Print+LED Art+Paper Craft

About: Daddy of two daughters / Let's live a life to reach spiritual enlightenment. / Maker using openHW and Upcycling

Let's make Christmas Decorations using 3D Print, LED Art and Paper Craft. :)

RGB LED Strip wiring is referred from Adafruit NeoPixel Best Practices.

Arduino NeoPixel control is come from Adafruit NeoPixel example strandtest.ino.

Step 1: Design Four Star

  1. In first practice, design Four Star in Fusion360.
  2. Resize it in CURA.
  3. Print Four Star with 3D Printer.
  4. Attach RGB LED Strip in Four Star Shape.
  5. Check LED operation with Arduino Nano.
  6. Wrap with paper for better ambient color effect.

Step 2: Design Five Star

  1. In second practice, design Five Star in Fusion360.
  2. Resize it in CURA.
  3. Print Five Star with 3D Printer.
  4. Attach RGB LED Strip in Five Star Shape.
  5. Check LED operation with Arduino Nano.
  6. Wrap with paper for better ambient color effect.

Step 3: Design ㅋㅋ Rudolph

The design idea is inspired from my first daughter.

She told me Korean consonant "ㅋ" looks like Antler.

More funny thing is "ㅋㅋ" has a similar meaning of "HaHa". ;P

So I drew initial concept with SmartPhone Pen.

  1. Import initial concept and design ㅋㅋ Rudolph in Fusion360.
  2. Resize it in CURA.
  3. Print ㅋㅋ Rudolph with 3D Printer.
  4. Attach RGB LED Strip in ㅋㅋ Rudolph Shape.
  5. Check LED operation with Arduino Nano.
  6. Wrap with paper for better ambient color effect.

Step 4: Draw Character and Prepare Attaching

My first daughter drew each character freely.

My second daughter affixed double-sided tapes for wall attaching.

Step 5: Merry Christmas

Have Happy Days~ :D
