Introduction: Cream Cheese Filled Melon Bread

A Japanese recipe for melon Pan filled with melon flavored cream cheese topped with a sugar cookie crust also melon flavored and colored green with cuts to look like a turtle.

Just watch! Its delicious, cute and fun to make.

Step 1: The Ingredients

The Bread:
- 2 2/3c flour
- 1 Tbs dry yeast
- 2 Tbs sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 3/3 Tbs butter
- 1 egg
- warm water (enough to equal 1c with the egg)

The Cookie:
- 2 1/8c flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- 6 2/3Tbs butter
- 1/4c sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 Tbs skim milk
- 3 Tbs Melon flesh grated
-couple drops of green food colouring

The Filling:
- 150g cream cheese
- 2tbs icing sugar
- 2tsp melon juice

Step 2: The Bread:Combining Ingredients

In 4 seperate containers combine,
The Bread:
- 2 2/3c flour
- 1 Tbs dry yeast
- 2 Tbs sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 3/3 Tbs butter
- 1 egg
- warm water (enough to equal 1c with the egg)

Bowl 1- The sugar and the yeast
Bowl 2- The salt and the butter(butter at room temperature)
Bowl 3- The flour
Bowl 4- The Warm Water and Egg





Step 3: Grow the Yeast

1.Add the water and egg to yeast and sugar, allow it to sit for aout 5 minutes until dissolved.

Step 4: Add Yeast to Flour

1.Add the yeast mixture to the flour.

Step 5: Knead Dough

1.Knead the Butter into the bread dough, until the read is smooth and shiny 5-8 minutes.

Step 6: Cover Bread and Let Rise

1.Place the Bread in a Bowl and cover with a cloth in a warm area. Allow it to double in size for about 1 hour.
2. Move onto next step.

Step 7: The Cookie: Combining Ingredients

Combine in 1 bowl in this order:
The Cookie:
- 2 1/8c flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- 6 2/3Tbs butter
- 1/4c sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 Tbs skim milk
- 3 Tbs Melon flesh grated
-couple drops of green food colouring



Step 8: All in One Bowl

1.Mix butter and sugar, add the eggs and melon flesh after grating, if a melon isn't available a citrus fruit or juice works also.

Step 9: Add Flour

2.Add the flour, once its evenly distributed, add the milk

Step 10: Wrap and Refrigerate

3.Wrap in seran and store in the refrigerator.
4. Room temperature butter will make it easier to handle, but chilled butter will make the cookie more flaky.

Step 11: Filling

The Filling:
- 150g cream cheese
- 2tbs icing sugar
- 2tsp melon juice

1. Mix the ingredients well. More icing sugar may be added as well as more melon juice as long as they are mixed really well and balanced.

Step 12: Time to Make a Turtle

1. Break the bread dough into about 10 equal rounded pieces( depending on how big of turtles you want.

Step 13: Head and Body

1.Seperate each piece into 1/3 + 2/3 pieces. The 2/3 Piece will be the turtles body and the 1/3 you will take and....
2. Add the filling into body and fold

Step 14: Tail and Limbs

1.Cut the 1/3 into half. On half will be the head, the other half becomes...
2.Roll the other half into a snake and cut it into 5 pieces. 4 Pieces will be the limbs the other is points and becomes the tail.

Step 15: Turtle Shell

1. Take the cookie out of the refrigeration and cut into ten pieces roll it out with a pin or just squash it with your fist. to make it flat enough to fit over the turtles body.

Step 16: More Construction

1. Place over top of the turtle body which at this point should be on a cookie sheet assembled. Cut lines in the cookie shell not cutting completely though.
3. You should now have a turtle you can use chocolate chips or melon or cherry its to make eyes if you want.

Step 17: Cooking

1. Cook at 180 degrees celcius for 20 minutes.
2. Eat

Step 18: Your Done Yum

EAT IT NOW, there actually better completely cooled off.
