What looks like a normal CD rack can be deceiving.

Step 1: Measure Twice Cut Once

As part of this desk I wanted room to store a fair number of CDs, so I bought two CD racks that can each hold 32 CDs. I then created a compartment that could tightly hold the two racks, divided by an oak strip. As the compartment was deeper than the racks, I glued an oak strip on the back so they would only go in until they were flush with the front.

Step 2: Nice Fit With a Bonus Hidden Compartment

I can insert the CD racks, and have a hidden 22" X 8.25" X 2.5" compartment behind the racks for items (such as my mad money) hidden from plain sight.
