Hello everyone, this instructable will be a very exiting adventure for you set up on a rainy day.

You will find out how to collect micro meteorites from your home.

Step 1: What Is Micro Meteorites?

This is just a quick description to what a micro meteorite is.

Micro meteorites are micro meteoroids that enter the earths atmosphere and burn into tiny micro meteorites before hitting the earth and the earth is getting bombarded with micro meteorites each day so to collect these you will need a large area for them to be collected with a magnet because most are magnetic due to the meteorites containing iron.

Step 2: Equipment Needed.

What you will need is:

Neodymium magnet.

Seal-able plastic bag (zip lock bags are prefered)

Magnifying glass or microscope.

And the end of a gutter connecting to your roof.

Step 3: Making a Trap for the Micrometeorites.

The best place for catching micrometeorites is on your roof and can be done with running a magnet over the roof but it would be hard and exhausting running a magnet over your roof top and could be dangerous especially for young interested kids. So I'm going to make it a ton easier for kids to try for them selves.

First: Get a magnet but most fridge magnets won't work unless you use a neodymium magnet which is probably lying around your house somewhere and place it inside a seal-able bag.

Second: Place the seal-able bag with the magnet inside into the the end of a gutter and wait for it to rain.

Third: Once it's stopped raining, a lot of the micrometeorites on the roof would have washed down the gutter and a few should of got trapped on your magnet and your magnet can now be removed from the gutter.

Fourth: to get your micrometeorites in the bag just fold your bag inside out and now take your magnet away.Before moving on to the next step, make sure you have your small pile of dirt dried by evaporation. you can boil the water if you want to so you don't need to wait a few days.

Fifth: Get rid of obvious junk that's in your dirt pile of micro meteorites and place the micrometeorites under a microscope to see the specs better and once again get rid of any obvious junk using something not magnetic like a tooth pick.

Sixth: To identify if it is a micro meteorite, you need to look for tiny stones that is mostly spherical and place the micro meteorites in a small container and your done, you just collected micrometeorites though they might be hard to see or have to use a magnifying glass to see them properly.Micro meteorites can range in size from 2 mm-50 microns.

Step 4: Your Done!

You will be left with micrometeorites as well as junk that looks like dirt but you should be able to see a difference through a Magnifying glass or even better a microscope.You can sort through the pile with a tooth pick and separate the junk from the micrometeorites.
