Snazzy Bottles

Introduction: Snazzy Bottles

About: I am married with two children. Spring, summer, and fall are my very favorite times of the year. I enjoy working in the yard, sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening, and creating. I do this to keep my sanity.

These bottles were made for Valentine's Day gifts.  They were cheap, quick, and easy to make. This is a great way to add a touch of class to an ordinary gift.  They can be made for men and women.  I used all empty jars and bottles. I had an empty olive jar that said Don't Forgetta on it with raised lettering that I painted over.  It was so cute. Let me show you how I made them!

Step 1: Supplies and Tools

Empty Glass Bottles or Jars with lids or corks.
Spray paint for glass.
Tube paint to write on lids and jars.
Candy to fill jars.
Pink heart buttons for embellishment.
Ribbon embellishments.
Glue to glue the ribbon and buttons.
Fresh cut flowers.
Bath salts.
Scissors to cut ribbon and flowers.
Save the red ribbon and the plastic K from the empty Kahlua bottle.
A surface to paint the jars outdoors.

Step 2: Remove the Labels

Remove all the labels from the jars.
I put the jars in boiling water to remove the labels but I heard Goof off works wonders.
You might even try a blow dryer.
For the empty Kahlua bottle;  I removed the red ribbon, plastic K and saved them to glue back on later.
For the red bottle I removed the label but not from the neck.

Step 3: Paint the Jars

Paint the jars and lids as desired.
I painted three light coats for each jar, but allowed them to dry between the coats.
If you use a heavy coat of paint the paint will run.

Step 4: Paint the Letters

Paint all the letters on the jars and lids.
Paint  the hearts.

Step 5: Embellish the Jars

Glue red ribbon to the Dark Purple bottle.
Glue the plastic kiss button to the purple bottle.
Glue the pink heart buttons to the red bottle.
Add a red ribbon.
Glue a ribbon to the orange Jar.

Step 6: Fill the Bottles and Jars As Desired

You can fill them with candy, flowers, coffee beans, or bath salts.

Step 7: Sunshiine's Final Thoughts

I thought these bottles were so cute.  What a great addition to a small gift.  A person with artistic talent could paint a scene on the bottles and the receiver could use them for a vase after the contents were empty.  I loved the lavender bottle with don't forgetta on it.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope your Valentine's Day was fantastic!

What a great idea sunshiine. I like how you took otherwise disposable containers and made them pretty. I especially liked the Kahlua bottle! Great job! ;)
