Introduction: Tea Kettle-bells

About: Designer of things, Maker of weirdness and Baker of the macabre.

Here's the tea, staying in shape has never been harder! With gym closures and social distancing concerns, 2020 has been a year of at home fitness discovery. It's been an interesting journey, finding my "new work-out normal". And part of that journey has included some fun DIY equipment discoveries, this one being my absolute favorite! So grab an old tea kettle and let's get started!

Step 1: You Will Need

You will need:

  1. An old tea kettle with a handle (thrift stores are great place to find them)
  2. A funnel (homemade works great)
  3. 10 lbs of playground sand (most home improvement stores carry 50 lb bags for a few dollars)
  4. E 6000 glue (or similar)

Step 2: Fill You Kettle

Using your funnel, pour the sand into the top of the kettle as well as the spout. Fill to the top, leaving a bit of room for the lid to fit back on.

Step 3: Glue Shut

E-6000 glue is extremely strong, I've been using this kettle-bell for nearly 3 months with not one leak!

  • Put glue around the inner rim of lid
  • Place lid securely on kettle
  • Glue the spout shut
  • For added measure you could add a rim of glue around the outside of the lid as well. I didn't, but you could if you like.

  • Fill the hole of the spout with glue as well

Step 4: Let Dry

Allow kettle-bell to dry fully overnight.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Kettlebell Workout!

There are so many great workouts that can be done with kettle-bells, and 10 lb weights are great for beginners.

Not only are these homemade fitness weights extremely affordable, and easy to make, but they are also a great way to re-purpose old kettles.

Here's to your health and fitness! All my love in creativity,
