Introduction: Wiggly Snake

I designed this project for an art class on prac at a primary school. I did this with grade 3's and found that most of the students some students could do it with ease while others had more difficulty, but ultimately, it was a hit.

Materials:
Construction paper with template printed onto it.
Split pins or pipe cleaners for joining
1 pipe cleaner for tongue.
Two decorative eyes.

Scissors
Glue
Sticky Tape

Step 1: Step 1: Cut Out the Template

Cut out the template. I have design it so that students will each need one of the body template (the zigzag one), but the decoration template (the squares), can be shared between 4 students. The body and the decoration should be on different colours of paper. Students should finish up with 5 squares and a small triangle of one colour, and 5 zigzags and one semi circle of another colour.

Step 2: Step 2: Make the Sections

Roll the zig zags so that the half diamond folds over the top of the diamond on the opposite end. In the photo, I have stapled the edges together, but glue or sticky take is fine.
Bring the two halves of the straight edge of the semi circle together to make a cone.

Using a single hole punch, put holes in the ends of the sections, and the wide part of the cone. Make sure you have one end of one diamond free. This will be the snakes face.

Glue the diamonds to the top of the sections. Glue the triangle to the top of the cone.

Step 3: Step 3: Assembling and Finishing

Put either split pins or sections of pipe cleaner through the holes to connect the sections. Put the cone and the back to make the take and the section with no hole in it at the front to make it's face.

Now get a small section of pipe cleaner. Fold in half and twist at the fold creating a fork.
use tape to put this (the tongue) under the roof of the snakes mouth.
Stick eyes onto his face.

Wiggle your snake.
