Hi Ravaged TimeThis is how I would optimize your result:First, press the winded coil with your hands togther. Then roll this "compessed" coil on a woodden plate with your hands like making a noodle for baking or cooking.Next idea which comes to my mind is wind a new coil, and use the thread of a long screw e.g. M5 or M4 as center rod. The thread might help you to equalize the windingsHope this will help you to succedYours Aeon Junophor

Hi Ravaged Time!Take some steel wool, the very fine one (000),some fishpaper 600 or more, or a small file. You can also take a small screw driver and scratch the part where you want to solder. After some trying you will find the best technique to you... The big ring must be solderabele with the LED leds because it ist a part of the electrical circuit. The LED covering coils have to be insulated on one side otherwise the work as a short cut.Good luck;-))Yours Aeon Junophor

Hi sdfuturegirl!Sorry that I answer so late, I got in trouble with my PC. But now everything works again. To adjust the speed the only possibility that comes to my mind is to vary the voltage by using a potentiometer. All other components of this "in itself closed circuit" depend on each other. Hope this will helpYours, Aeon Junophor
View Instructable »Hi Ravaged Times!Of course you can use the same type of copper wire as proposed by you. I took different ones because the Copper wire for the LED coils had already been lacquered and I own already some of these bigger coils of this type. If you use lacquered wire you have to scrub the laquer away before you solder it otherwise ther is no contact..Yours Aeon, Junophor
