Hi,I don't recall drilling anything for this one. I think it's part of the standard structure
I screwed one of the ladder part
It should be ok. The white part is about 23cm. Plus the size of the wood gets you around 27cm.For extra security, you could screw the same long wood that you used for the roof (the 2 meters long) at 5cm from the white part.
We used an Ikea matrass (90x200): MALFORSAnd on top of it there is an Ikea TUSSÖYI'm not sure exactly what you mean by "the siding"?When both matrass and top matrass are in place, there's still around 7 cm of border, preventing our son to roll outside. To make it even softer we have a braid bed bumper all around. So even if he moves a lot, he won't hit the wood. The bumper is like this one: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/oBOyteZi
Also please note that I did not put the matrass and the slats where there are supposed to be.I screwed the slats rails at the lowest part of the bed in order to get the mattress very near from the floor (but still not touching the floor, and still using slats)
