The hinges of the table are spring supported. These ensure that the hinges remain stable in the unfolded state. The force when unfolding corresponds to the weight of the table top. The springs could possibly be replaced by stronger springs to reduce the necessary force.

View Instructable »no, tipping over has not been a problem so far, even with a lot of weight on one side. The table has a high weight and therefore it is very stable. For reference, the box of water bottles on top weight 17,1 kg.

A wooden wrench supposed to do what? Also as a mounting for something?
The wire springs back well and so far it has not lost any strength. I can't say if the wire will wear off, spring steel would be the better choice, but I only used material I still had at home.
