    Hacking a USB Keyboard

    That is not really a problem solved by this Instructable. The way I think you would want to do it is to plug it into a Raspberry Pi, and have it run a script which reads out loud the keypresses using pre-recorded audio. And then, the script (pretends to be a keyboard) and exports a keystroke command on to the next computer (assuming you ultimately want to show this on a computer screen).You could also take a similar approach with an Arduino, but it may be a little trickier and require some additional hardware.

    DIY Guitar Pedal

    A capacitor's rating is the max voltage it can handle, and not connected to how much voltage it is providing. For instance, if you have a 9V battery, your capacitor just needs to be greater than 9V.

    1) Did you build the circuit first on a breadboard to confirm all of the components are working...?2) Yeah... that is probably the problem... that is not a stereo jack. It is a mono jack with a switch. That unfortunately won't work as a power switch. That type of jack is meant to connect / disconnect the guitar signal from the circuit. 3) See if you can bypass that jack and power the circuit directly from the battery. It should work.

  • The first one is one that we often think about, but it is just hard for us to evaluate if people are being truthful.The second one is like every contest we run! However, I think its interesting combining / requiring the use of two disciplines in a single contest.And we already run the Spy Contest (or similar) semi-regularly. Off the top of my head, I believe the last iteration of it was something along the lines of "Secret Hiding Places"We had a Mad Science Fair a long time ago, but I would definitely like to do that one again.I was going to say there is no way we are going to run a taco contest, but the more I think about it, maybe you aren't wrong. :)

    A long time ago we had a Chindogu Challenge (the art of the unusueless invention). I don't remember how that one went. I will look that up later and mull this over.

    Noted. Thanks!

    This might be a little too specific, but perhaps we could do a music or a stereo contest in the future.

    Arduino Motor Shield Tutorial

    I'll give you some pseudo code:(Code for setting up button pins here)If(button1pressed == true){ stop motor function//This pseudo code is assuming the motor is already spinning in the opposite direction once you pressed the button to change its rotation. You want to always first stop the motor and let the energy dissipate rather than suddenly reverse direction and have that energy from the sudden direction change go back into the circuit delay a couple milliseconds//wait a few milliseconds for the motor to de-energize before engaging the motor again motor forward code}if(button2pressed == true){ stop motor function delay a couple milliseconds motor backward code}
