Introduction: Acrylic Dog Ornaments for Xmas (Ornamenta De Perros)

Long time ago I had two labradors and one beagle (now a days I have a husky), one Christmas my family and me decided to make different ornaments, so I learned how to vectorize drawings using inkscape and ask for laser cut service to make our own "Xmas dog ornaments".

Hace mucho tiempo tuve dos labradores y un beagle (ahora tengo un husky), una navidad mi familia y yo decidimos decorar nuestro pino diferente. Aprendí a vectorizar iconos y dibujos usando tutoriales de inkscape y pedí a un proveedor de servicios de corte láser que hiciera nuestros colgantes.

Supplies

  1. Acrylic sheet (You can buy simple transparent acrylic at HomeDepot or search for supplies at your local store)
  2. String to hang your ornaments.

Material:

  1. 1 Hoja de acrílico (del color y grosor que deseen, esto lo definen con el proveedor del servicio)
  2. Hilo para colgar la ornamenta.

Step 1: Step 1: Choose Your Material and Laser Cut Provider / Elige Material

I add some examples of all different colors and sizes of acrylic sheets you could find, some places you just send your design file and ask which size and color you want.

( I did it with red and blue 3mm acrylic sheet)

Las fotos muestran un catálogo de colores y diferentes grosores que manejan los proveedores de acrílico, en México puedes cotizar el material en un lugar y el corte con otro proveedor o todo en un mismo lugar. Aproximadamente cuesta $7- $9 pesos el minuto de corte.

Step 2: Step 2: Modify or Make Your Vector Design

You can sign up in NounProject, an open source vector gallery where you can find different dog shapes and drawings.

Go to InkScape tutorials page or youtube channels to learn how to modify the vectors file.

Enter to Thingiverse: lawradesigner to download the editable files.

Remember: vectors are fine lines that machines' software detect where to follow the cut so the file extensions supported for laser cut are: .eps, .ai, .svg, .dxf.

Puedes inscribirte a la página de NounProject (es una plataforma open source) para descargar los vectores de perros que más te gusten.

Entra a la página oficial de Inkscape o canales de youtube para ver tutoriales de cómo editar los vectores a tu gusto.

Puedes acceder al link de Thingiverse para descargar el archivo editable.

Recuerda que los vectores son líneas que los softwares detectan donde marcar el corte, es importante que para enviar tu archivo las extensiones permitidas para corte láser son: .eps, .ai, .svg, .dxf
