Introduction: Black Walnut Shell Earrings
I like these because they have little faces.
Supplies
earring hook findings
jewelry wire .034"
black walnuts
Step 1: Split the Nut
Use a knife or chisel and a hammer.
Step 2: Dig Out the Meat and Wash the Shells
This can be a little tedious. I use a pick to fish the pieces out.
Step 3: Bandsaw the Back Off
Be careful doing this...Leave about ¼" thick.
Step 4: Sand the Back.
Just to clean up the saw marks.
Step 5: Drill a Tiny Hole
Ideally use a bit similar in size to your jewelry wire.
Step 6: Push in Some Wire
Then cut it off the roll leaving about an inch...
Step 7: Glue the Wire in the Hole
Use super glue and some accelerator.
Step 8: Bend the Wire Into a Loop
Using a round pliers bend half of the loop. Then cut off all but enough to finish the loop. Then finish the loop.
Step 9: Add the Earring Hook
It's best to use a hook that can close. These earrings are lightweight and can fall off easily without.
