Introduction: Box for the Nordic Dagger (Skyrim) DIY

Now i will show you how to make a kick ass box the Nordic Dagger

If you have not seen the instructions for the Nordic Dagger do that first ;)

For this box you will need:

Materials

  • wood board 300x800x15mm x2
  • Wood glue
  • Small Wood screws x10
  • Foam board ca 1cm thick
  • Spray glue (like super 77)
  • Black felt
  • Black indoors paint
  • Paper A4 or Artist paper A3
  • Thermoplastic ca 3 table spoons
  • Silver spray paint
  • Magnets x2
  • Bras hinges x2

Tools

  • Jigsaw
  • Exato Knife/knife
  • Drill
  • Clamps for use on wood
  • Sandpaper 120 and 1200
  • Water heater
  • Heat gun/hairdryer
  • Paint brushes
  • Black magic marker
  • Small Metal spatula

Step 1: Measure and Cut Out the Sides of the Box

First place the Dagger on to the wood and measure out the base of the box.

Then measure the sides and lid.

And cut it out with a jigsaw.

Step 2: Glue the Box

Use some wood glue to glue the sides to the base

Then take the lid and use it to press down on the sides

Now use some small wood screws to secure the sides

When the glue has dried sand down the edges with some 120 and then 1200 sand paper

Step 3: Paint the Box

First make sure the lid fits the box

If it does not fit cut it with a jigsaw

Now paint the box in some black indoor paint

Step 4: Make the Interior

Use some foam board ca 1cm thick and cut out two squares that fits in to the box

Trace out the shape of the Dagger on one of the foam squares and cut it out with a exacto knife

Now cut out a piece of felt, make it so it covers the foam board and a extra 1cm on all sides

Spray the felt and the foam with the Dagger cut out with spray glue, wait about 5 min

Then press the felt on to the foam

Now spray the glue in the box, and putt the foam with out the cut out in to the box first

Then spray the glue on to the first piece and putt in the second piece in the box and press down the cut out so the Dagger fits

Step 5: Logo on the Lid

First make a template of the Skyrim logo, i used my spare monitor for this

Take ca 3 table spoons of Thermoplastic heat it up and roll it in to a sheet

Heat up the sheet of Thermoplastic and putt the template on it and cut it out

When you have cut out the logo find the center of the lid and apply it by heating it up with a heat gun/hairdryer

Now let the plastic cool down, then take some silver spray paint and spray it in to a small container

Take a fine brush and carefully apply it to the plastic

If you get some silver on the lid you can go over it with a black magic marker

Step 6: Hinges and Magnets

Now for fastening the lid to the box i used some basic bras hinges on the back

And for the front i used some small round magnets (10mm)

Find the center of the long side of the box

Then take a drill bit (10mm) and drill a hole in the lid and the top of the front side

Make it just deep enough for the magnets

And glue them in with some super glue

Step 7: Complete

And that's it!
