Supplies

You will need these everyday things to make your hat:

  • cardboard
  • paint, spray paint, or markers
  • a toilet paper roll
  • white paper
  • x-acto knife or scissors
  • hot glue gun or tape
  • elastic or string
  • skewer or stick
  • plastic bottle cap

Step 1: Cut a Circle

First, draw a circle and add curve to fit your head. The bigger the circles, the bigger the circles the bigger the frog. Then cut it out and use that to trace out a second one. You should have two similar circles. Also cut out back legs and arms.

Step 2: Cut a Strip of Cardboard and Curl It.

Cut a strip of cardboard about 1 to 2 inches thick. It should be long enough to wrap around the circles. After you cut out your strip, rub it longways back and forth until it curls and can be bended easily.

Step 3: Take One of Your Sides and Cut.

Take one of your sides and cut a rectangle that fits the toilet paper roll with a bit of space. The roll should be able to move through that rectangle.

Step 4: Color This Parts.

Color your bendy strip, sides, bottle cap, and a piece of paper. Also color your frogs legs and arms if you want them.

Step 5: Cut Out Smaller Circles

Use the toilet paper roll to trace two circles, cut. Make a small hole in the middle of one circle.

Step 6: Attach the Stick to the Roll.

Glue the stick to the circle with no hole. Glue the roll to the circle. Slip the circle with the hole on the stick and glue to roll.

Step 7: Make Your Faces and Attach.

Cut a strip of the colored paper that is the width of the roll. Make marks at 1/3 and 2/3 of the paper. Draw happy, sad, and meh faces or experiment with faces. Attach the paper to the roll and roll so it covers the toilet paper roll.

Step 8: Glue Together and Add Eyes.

Wrap the strip around the circle. Glue. Make a hole in the strip where you are going to turn it. Once the roll is in, glue the other side on. Glue the bottle cap to the end of the stick. Cut and color two cardboard eyes and glue. Also add legs and arms.

Step 9: Glue on Elastic.

Glue on the elastic on the inside of the hat and add accessories. (I added a crown)

Step 10: Show Your Hat Off to Your Friends.

Enjoy your new hat. You can change your frog's expressions by just turning the bottle cap knob. Your hat will be unfrogetable.
