Introduction: Clue (or Cluedo) Wine Glass Charms

Clue (or Cluedo as we call it here in the UK) is an awesome game that has been kind of forgotten in our modern age. Unlike Monopoly and Scrabble, people aren't queuing up to play app versions of it, but it was a great game with iconic artwork and pieces! I decided to celebrate the game by making wine glass charms out of them. They would be great for parties, murder mystery nights and board game nights, as well as off-beat (or slightly macabre) weddings! These are cute and quirky and a lot of fun to make!

Step 1: Gather Tools and Materials

You will need:

  • Old Clue/Cluedo game
  • Wine charm rings - buy from ebay or twist your own
  • Glass beads
  • Drill with small bit (I used 1mm)
  • Pliers

And that is it!

Step 2: Drill Holes in Your Clue Pieces

First, you need to drill holes in each playing piece, close to the edge so that a jump ring will fit through, but not so close that it is weakened. I used a Dremel in a drill press and a 1mm drill bit. You will not need to drill into the revolver or the rope, as you can attach jump rings to these without one.

Step 3: Attach Jump Rings

Once you have drilled all of your holes, you need to attach jump rings. Open the jump ring by sliding the two sides apart, not by pulling the ends away from each other. Once you have threaded on the playing piece, close the jump rings securely again.

Step 4: Assemble Wine Charms

Once you have done that, all that is left is to thread the charms onto the jump rings. I used coloured beads as well just to give them a little pop of colour. These charms would be great for people who enjoy board games, or even better, for murder mystery parties!

To use, simply unhook and rehook around the stem of a wine glass (or even a mug of tea or coffee!)
