Introduction: Dragonscape

About: I like making little treats and pretty much doing anything crafty. I want to learn new techniques and share how I do what I do. Edit - I took a break for awhile but I'm ready to get back into sharing my work …

Make this cool little dragon scape with a manual pencil sharpener and some resin.

Step 1: Supplies

gather an old pencil sharpener, empoxy resin kit, masking tape, tiny toy figurine, acrylic paint, washi tape, paint brush, tiny foliage, optional rocks and sand

Step 2: Resin

un hinge the sharpener bottom from the top and gently separate. set up the clear collection part of the pencil sharpener with the opening facing upwards and secure with masking tape. mix epoxy resin in equal amounts (about a tablespoon each) and pour into the clear container part.

Step 3: Place Items

do not top off the container. leave about a 1/4" from the top. add your figure up side down and gently (using tweezers or a toothpick) place tiny foliage. let set overnight. if you want you can add rocks as a base when the epoxy is still tacky. keep in mind this tiny world is upside-down and it needs to stay like this until it is completely set.

Step 4: Decorate

add washi tape along the bottom part of the sharpener. press it on firmly.

Step 5: Paint

once your epoxyed container is set you can move on. if you didn't add rocks and left a gap in the epoxy you can paint the inside green. looking at it from the outside it will look like your figure is standing on grass.

Step 6: Reattach

once your green "grass" is dry, you can reattach the top and bottom at the hinge.

Step 7: Ready to Fly

your little scene is still functional as a pencil sharpener. this same method can be used in other small containers as well.
