Introduction: Flexible Arrow Ring

About: I am an Industrial Designer, who obviously loves to create. Now that I am a mom, most of my creations are inspired by my daughers. I believe that if more parents were making stuff with their kids, the world wo…

In this instructable I'll show you how to make a beautiful ring that will fit any size. It's colourful and playful. If you like fashion accessories this one is for you.

It is very confortable to wear, it's the perfect project for a craft fair because it's very inexpensive to make, and it doesn't matter how thick or thin your customers' fingers are, it will fit them. So let's make it!

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Bake and bend polymer clay. By sculpey.

A knife

Wire

One important thing to highlight is that if the wire is too thick or not too flexible it could rip the ring at the end. I suggest you make a test (just make step 1 and bake) and you´ll see if its ok.

Step 2: Make a Custom Color

If you haven't used this polymer clay you should try it. It's very easy to work with, the colors are bright (although they get a little bit darker once baked). The colors blend easily, if you want to make new colors it will be easy. And it has a beautiful matte finish. Perfect for jewelry.

The only downside of this product is that they won't sell each color, you need to buy the whole set. But there are so many different things you can do with them, that's not a huge problem. If you are selling the rings at a craft fair you could make 80 with just one box of assorted coloured clay that is $11.

Step 3: Make a Thin Cylinder

With your fingers make a thin cylinder as shown in the picture. It should be longer than the wire.

Cover the wire

Now put the wire in the centre and make the clay cover the wire, by rolling with two fingers back and forth.

Step 4: Make the Arrow.

When working with polymer clay, it's better to make the whole shape starting with a single piece of clay. Specially when making little things.

That's why I left at the edges extra clay to shape the arrow.

Using a knife make the triangle at one part and the fletching at the other.

Step 5: Bake and Bend

Now bake the ring. At 250F for 25 min. Once it's cold twist it around a thick pencil or other object (like my exacto knife). And it's ready to use!!!
