Introduction: Lord of the Rings Tobacco Pouch

About: Well I'm not a pro in any way, but I just love to make things of all kinds. I like rock and epic music, good food, norse mythology, biking, hiking, larping and so on... But there's one nemesis - Math. Yet I st…

Hi!

Once again I was watching The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. During the final scene, when Isengard is conquered by ents, two hobbits found larder with food and ale...and tobacoo! South Farthing Longbottom leaf Old Toby tobacco! And then I thought, it could be cool to make it as a tobacco pouch (yeah, making a barrel from the movie would be way cooler :D).

Step 1: Things You Will Need

  • some fabric or a leather
  • scissors
  • paint and brush
  • thread and needle
  • pins
  • tobacco (or whatever you want to put in)

Step 2: Cutting

First step si to make some sketches of future design.

Then measure some dimensions (I chose a rectangle 15cm x 28cm) and sketch the shape on the material (I think it's a way better to use leather, but I haven't it, so I had to use a canvas ).

After that just cut it out.

Step 3: Sewing

Next step is sewing the pouch together. I put it inside out and then sewed it as you can see on the pics :)

After that I used a cotton thread as decoration.

Step 4: Painting

After you have the basic shape, take your paint and brush. I wanted to be as close as possible to the writing and logo from the movie, but in the movie the label is torn, so I had to slightly improvise.

So take a pencil and first sketch the future painting on the pouch. Once you are happy with it, it's time for the painting.

..Or you can make an embroidery instead if you are brave enough :D

Step 5: Fastening

As a fastening I simply sewed some stripes of fabric to the pouch. But you can use a leather or buttons. Be creative! ;)

Step 6: Filling!

And now it's the time to fill it!

....but I'm not sure what should I put in, as I'm not a smoker, but I think I'll figure it out :D (maybe flint and steel )

It could be also a great gift for a LOTR fan smoker!

Well I hope you like this instructable and that you will want to make your pouch too!

If you have a question, constructive idea or a compliment feel free to write a comment! :)

It's a great looking pouch, cheers for showing us how to make it :). One thing tho, it is not good for holding tobacco because it will dry out and lose it's aroma, and it will leak tobacco flakes all over the place. You need an air-tight seal to carry tobacco around and have it taste good and not make a mess all over the place.

On the other hand, I think some tobacco tins will fit just nice in the pouch and make a wonderfull kit for carrying around if made a tad bigger.

Cheers, Vladimir!

Hey! This is ace! I want to make one of these for my LOTR crazy mum for Christmas and ive seen a few designs for this pouch. Im after one thats as close to the real deal as possible. How accurate is this to the actual pouch in the film and if youre unsure, do you know what film I can see the pouch?

Thank you! :)

Well I found some old fabrics at home.

So you can either buy it, look around your home as I did or maybe cut some old clothing or rag :)
