Introduction: Metal and Ribbon Jewelry From Aluminum Can

About: I enjoy making things. My making them is usually based on necessity, the fact that it doesn't exist, and/or buying it pre-done would be way more expensive. I like all kinds of projects and find this site a ver…

Ever seen an image on an aluminum can or plastic cup and been like i wonder if i could make that in to something I could wear?
I did, so here it is.

Find design you like on an aluminum can or plastic cup.
Cut it out carefully and sand the edges.
Use an awl or tool to make hole(s).
You can also make holes into the aluminum with a thumbtack.
Use a lighter to seal the ends of your ribbon, this will help it thread better.
Thread ribbon of choice into the hole(s) in the formation of your choice.
Enjoy your new jewelry.

I made the necklace using a green tea can and used a jump ring for the pendant.
If the pendant is too light, glue a coin (penny or dime) to the back, for added weight.

For the bracelet, I made mine with thin ribbon and tied it with loops on the side and laced it like a corset.
You can also make make earrings using earring posts available at a craft store and two cans or cups with design.

Also, be on the look out for summer movie cans, they have fun designs.  I'm looking forward to Green Lantern cans, It's a shame Black Swan did not have a beverage endorsement.
