Introduction: Sandal Flower

About: I am a Makeup Artist, crafter, party lover and mother.

Flip flops are always a must when going to the beach but did you know you can make them look fantastic just by attaching a fabric flower to them? I'll show you how to make it.

Step 1: Materials

Pair of flip flops

8 inches of chiffon (or any other light fabric)

Sewing pins

Needle

Thread

Scissors

Step 2: Cut a Strip

Place your fabric in a table and cut 4 inches through all the width of it (most chiffons have 1.50 meters of width).

Step 3: Fold and Hold

Fold your strip in half, and then in half again and again until you have a piece of around 7 inches.

Use the sewing pins to hold it in place as shown in the pictures.

Step 4: Cut

Cut the fabric following a pattern. I made this without using a marker but you can either mark the fabric or use a stencil to do so. Notice that the lines of the "m"s of my pattern don't go all the way down.

Step 5: Sew

Put thread in your needle and make a knot at the end of it. Start sewing the fabric in the lower part of your pattern and continue with big stitches all the way to the end of the fabric. Pull the thread (not too tight) as shown in the third picture. Do not cut the thread.

Step 6: Roll It

Roll the plaited strip starting from where you finished the stitches. Every turn or two turns make a couple of stitches in the base to keep it in place. Continue doing this until all is rolled up. Make a double knot at the end.

Step 7: Flower

Use the same thread and needle to attach you flower to the sandals. Just make stitches in the intersection of the "Y" of your flip flops and that's it!

There you have it, big upgrade huh?
