Introduction: Spicy Ragi Vermicelli
This is a simple version of gluten free steamed spicy ragi vermicelli.
Step 1: Ingredients
- One packet of Ragi vermicelli (about 180 grams)
- Two medium sized onions chopped
- One large size tomato chopped
- Four green chilies sliced
- One teaspoon of mustard seeds mixed with broken white lentil
- One tablespoon of salt
- One tablespoon cooking oil
- Clean water for soaking and steaming
Step 2: Preparation
- Take about two liters of cold water in a pan and mix one tablespoon of salt
- Soak the raw vermicelli for about three minutes in the salt water
- Drain out the water and keep aside
Step 3: Steaming
- Take about one liter of water in a wide mouthed vessel
- Cover the vessel with a clean white cloth
- Place the soaked ragi vermicelli on top of the cloth
- Steam for about five minutes. covering the vermicelli with suitable cover
- Stop steaming after five minutes, take out the steamed vermicelli and keep separately
Step 4: Tempering
- Heat about one tablespoon of oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds mixed with white lentils
- Add sliced green chillies and onions to the heated oil
- Add steamed vermicelli and sliced tomatoes
- Mix well and remove from fire
Step 5: Serve Hot
Serve hot with grated raw coconuts
