Introduction: Tanjirou’s Ear Rings From Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba

About: I am a maker from the St. Louis area. I have spent a lot of time playing video games and watching anime. I am finally jumping into the world of making things I like from these places.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has been a great anime airing this spring. The main character Tanjirou wares these earrings so far through the series. I thought it would make for a great small foam project.

Supplies

  • 4 round magnets
  • 2mm thick EVA foam
  • foam brush
  • modpoge
  • utility knive
  • heat gun
  • superglue
  • black paint
  • pattern

Step 1: Transfer Pattern to Foam

Take your heat gun and heat seal both sides of your 2mm foam.

Cut out your pattern. I wanted my earring to be double sided so I have 4 patterns. If you only want them to be one sided fell free to repurpose the other patterns for another use.

Apply a thin coat of Modpoge to the foam with your foam brush and then place your pattern onto the wet glue. Once it is in place apply another thin layer. Let the glue dry completely and then apply another layer. Add as may layers as you would like but 2-3 will work just fine for this project.

Step 2: Glue Strap to Magnet

While you are waiting for the Modpoge to dry cut out 2 thin foam strips out of your 2mm foam. Super glue one end to the edge of one of the magnets.

Step 3: Glue Front and Back of the Earrings Together

Once all the glues have dried completely cut out each piece. Line up 2 pieces back to back as best you can and super glue them together. Do the same for the pair.

I was having some issues with the edges not wanting to stick together so I just put some heavy objects on them until the glue was set.

Step 4: Glue Foam Strap to Top of Earring

When the glue is dry and you have all the edges flush with each other super glue the strap to the top of the earrings. I tired to get them as center of the sun as I could.

Step 5: Paint Sides With Black Paint

To give these the final touches I painted the edges all black so they would blend better with the strap. I also cut down the strap and reattached it. The were a bit long for the look I was going for.

This is a super fun and easy project if you are looking for something to make during an afternoon.
