We are making awesome space coasters by laser engraving our icons into the marble and then painting them.

Step 1: Wrap Your Coasters in Masking Tape

We use an extra-wide masking tape roll that can be found in most hardware and home decor stores.

Step 2: Find the Center

In order to properly engrave our icons in the middle of our coasters we have to find the center. You can either measure the diameter with two perpendicular lines and see where they cross, or how we show you in the video - by drawing a right-angle on a piece of paper and placing the coaster up against the two lines. Then mark on the wrapping paper where the coaster touches the line, rotate the coaster 180 degrees and do the same process, then connect the two lines using a piece of straight edge.

Step 3: Placing the Image

Put your coasters onto the laser bed. Move the red dot of the laser of the middle point of your coaster. Place the icons in the Ai file attached onto each of the four coasters on the laser bed.

Step 4: Engrave the Coasters

We used our Speedy 400 flexx laser which is 100 watt with a power of 100% and a speed of 20%. You want to go slow in order to really put a nice groove into the marble.

Step 5: Brush Off the Dust

Take away the dust that has accumulated on the engraved lines of your design. Be careful not to pull of the masking paper itself.

Step 6: Painting the Coaster

Once all dust particles are removed from the engraved lines, we then spray-paint the coaster with a few sprays. Then slowly peal off the masking tape.
