I, too, wanted to use cube dice for my Game of Ur, as I didn’t know how to make a tetrahedron.I usedfour cubes, cut from a stick that was square in cross-section. I wood-burned asymbol into three sides of a cube, and left the other three sides blank, so Ihad a die that had a 50% chance of getting a 0 and a 50% chance of getting a1, just as with the tetrahedron dice. Hence, when rolling four dice, theprobabilities of rolling a 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 are just the same at the tetrahedronsin the original game of Ur. These are called binary dice, and such dice can bepurchased, but, of course, that is not how we do things here at Instructables.
Thanks for the plans and inspiration. I cut slices through a poplar 1.5" x 1.5" board to make the squares and used a pine dowel for the inlay. Made the game pieces by cutting cross-sections of a maple branch. To make the binary dice, I burned a design into three sides of each cube, and left the other three sides blank. It's a fun, fast-moving game.
That's a good idea. Use regular salted peanuts, and then add cayenne or hot sauce or other flavors when you grind your peanuts into peanut butter. There are a lot of possibilities for different pb flavors.

I just made it recently for the silly hat contest. I haven't had a chance to test it, as we haven't had many gnats around this summer. If I have some results to report, I'll be in touch.
I just recently made it for the contest, and haven't run into gnats on my walks, so haven't had the occasion to test it. I'll report back when there are enough gnats to try it out.
First time I've ever been accused of being a gnatty dresser.
I don't think it will work, because when I raise my real hand, that doesn't work either. It's a silly solution; I tried to enter it in the Silly Hats contest, but messed up somehow when I hit 'publish.'

it was a fortuitous accident.
Great directions and photos. And I learned that tensional integrity is responsible for the stillness of our posture, as muscles create tension around our bones.

Thanks. I'm glad you learned something from it.
Thanks. I used it to decorate a gift for my pets.
Thanks for the idea. I got some pallet slats out of the firewood pile, used an old locust post as the trunk, and buried the trunk a foot deep.
Thanks for letting me know about this NASA app. We (colleagues and students) will use it to measure trees in our community. Being able to contribute to a Citizen Science project is of great value to any class lesson.
That would be a great way of teaching students that there are practical applications of math and trig.
