Introduction: Water-Bottle Lolly Dispenser

Lolly Dispensers are fun no matter how old you are, but bringing this fun into your own home can be expensive. This personal Lolly Dispenser is the perfect solution. Made from items that you probably have at home already, it is super cheap and can be made to fit your favourite lollies.

Step 1: Collect Materials and Equipment

MATERIALS:

2 x Plastic Water Bottles (any size)

1 x Wooden Chopstick

EQUIPMENT:

Craft Knife

Large Pair of Scissors

Hot Glue Gun

Step 2: Make the Dispenser

Collect one of the plastic water bottles and the craft knife.

Using the craft knife, carefully cut the bottom of the water bottle off completely.

Step 3:

Set aside the top of the bottle, leaving the bottom to work with.

Using the crafdt knife, carefully cut a large circle out of the middle of the plastic.

This hole will need to be much larger than the lollies that you plan to use the dispenser for, as this will allow the lollies to easily move through the dispenser.

Step 4:

Collect the lids from both of the water bottles and the craft knife.

Using the craft knife, carefully cut off a small section of both lids, as shown above.

Ensure that the width of the hole created is large enough to fit the lollies that you plan to put into your dispenser.

Step 5:

Collect the two lids and the hot glue gun.

Use the hot glue gun to place a line of glue around the curved edge of one of the lids.

Quickly place the other lid on top, making sure that its edges match as accurately as possible.

Hot glue dries very quickly, so ensure that you complete this step as quickly as possible.

Step 6:

Collect the lids, the hot glue gun and the wooden chopstick.

Place a dot of hot glue onto the centre of one side of the lids.

Quickly press the larger end of the chopstick into the glue and hold until it feels secure.

Set aside so that the glue can dry completely.

Step 7:

Collect the water bottle top that you set aside earlier and the scissors.

Remove the label from the bottle.

Step 8:

Using the scissors, carefully put a hole near the neck of the bottle, as shown above.

This is easiest when you twist the scissors so that they form a hole large enough to fit the chopstick.

Step 9:

Collect the top of the bottle and the lids that you set aside earlier.

Place the chopstick into the bottle and guide it through the hole that you made, so that the lids sit above the neck of the bottle, as shown above.

Step 10:

Using a pencil, mark the length that you wish your twist-handle to be on the finished dispenser.

Step 11:

Remove the chopstick from the bottle and collect the craft knife.

Using the craft knife, carefully cut the chopstick along the mark that you made.

Step 12:

Place the chopstick back inside the bottle, guiding it once again through the hole in the top.

Step 13:

Collect the bottle, the hot glue gun and a third bottle lid.

Place a dot of hot glue onto the end of the chopstick and press the lid onto it.

Hold until it feels secure and then set aside to dry completely.

I chose to use another bottle lid for my twist-handle, however you can substitute this with whatever you would like to use.

Step 14:

Collect the bottle top and base.

Push the base of the bottle into the top, upside down, so that it sits just above the lids that are already in the bottle.

Step 15: Make the Base

TO MAKE THE STAND YOU WILL NEED:

1 x Plastic Water Bottle

Craft Knife

Tape

Pen

Step 16:

Remove the label from the bottle.

Draw a rectangle onto the front of the bottle to guide you in cutting the hole.

Make sure the hole is not too big as this will weaken the strength of the base.

Step 17:

Collect the bottle and the craft knife.

Using the craft knife, carefully cut along the lines to cut a square out of the front of the bottle. The dispenser works best if you make this hole big enough to comfortably fit your fingers.

Step 18:

Collect both bottles and the tape.

Step 19:

Position the bottles next to each other, as shown above, and tape them together.

Step 20: Add the Lid (optional)

TO MAKE THE LID YOU WILL NEED:

1 x Plastic Water Bottle

Craft Knife

Tape

Step 21:

Collect the bottler and the craft knife.

Using the craft knife, carefully cut the bottom off the water bottle, just as you did in Step 2.

Step 22:

Collect the dispenser and the bottom of the bottle that you just cut.

Step 23:

Place the bottom of the bottle on top of the dispenser, as shown above.

Secure in place with a single strip of tape at the back of the dispenser. If you feel that you need to, place another strip on the inside of the dispenser in the same position.

Step 24:

Another way to make the lid is to turn the bottom of the bottle (that you cut off before) upside down and place it into the top of the dispenser, so that it sits at the very top.

Step 25:

Your Lolly Dispenser is now complete.

Decorate as you wish, fill with your favourite lollies and enjoy!
